#2 THE SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS AND RESEARCH FOR TRANSFORMATION (SMART) SCHOLARSHIP FOR SERVICE PROGRAM $25,000
APPLICATION DEADLINE: December 3
To be eligible, apply in your senior year of high school or before graduate school. Winners receive full tuition and a stipend each month. The are also awarded summer internships at Department of Defense.
- 3.0 GPA or higher required.
- Must pass security clearance.
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must pursue a STEM course of study related to national security.
#3 THE STOKES PROGRAM $30,000
APPLICATION DEADLINE: November 15
Who is eligible? Seniors in high school who have been accepted to college may apply. Students must study electrical and computer engineering areas including cyber security. Winners will also work at the NSA for three months every summer, and then at the NSA after graduation. Must be a US Citizen to apply.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Differs According to Institution
Apply through a participating institution. Students must be looking to pursue an information assurance degree.
Stipend winners will work in a Government agency, or, a Federal Funded Research and Development Center. Important to note! You need to pass security clearance.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Rolling
You must be a resident of Virginia and recent grad of a Virginia college. You will be required to work in a Virginia state agency or institution.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Early 2020
This program is for students who want to study in cyber security and learn an in demand language. The award is for study abroad for one semester or more in a critical location for US National Security.
Winners will need to work at a government agency for as long as they held the award upon graduation.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Rolling
Award open to seniors in high school. Winners earn a salary and tuition up to $18,000. Winners work at the CIA while in school as well as during the summer. They will also continue to work for the CIA after graduation.
#8 SOURCEFIRE SNORT SCHOLARSHIP $10,000
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Spring 2020
Graduating HS seniors are eligible to apply. Must prove pursuit of computer science, information assurance, or related study disciplines.
APPLICATION OPENS: November 2
Winners work for 10 weeks at one of 36 Department of the Navy Research Labs. There, they hold technical and engineering roles. Stipend amounts vary based on degree level. You must be a US citizen to apply.

Undergrad Cyber Security Scholarships
APPLICATION DEADLINE: March 15
Pursues an undergraduate program in cyber security or related May be a citizen of any nation. Must have a 3.0 GPA.
HAROLD F. TIPTON SCHOLARSHIP $5,000
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Spring
Must pursue an undergraduate degree in cyber security or related 3.5 GPA or higher
APPLICATION DEADLINE: JULY
Pursuing an undergraduate degree with intent to working in intelligence community. Preference given to applicants with in-demand language skills.
GOOGLE SVA SCHOLARSHIPS $10,000
APPLICATION DEADLINE: November 1st
Applicants must be active duty or a student veteran. Reserve and National Guard do qualify. You must be enrolled in computer science or related fields.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: June
History of interest (academic and otherwise) in national security and cyber security. Passion for working in the United States intelligence community. Preference for students with sought-after languages
LINT CENTER $500
APPLICATIONS DUE: January and June
Winners will have their entry essays published by the Lint Center and assigned a mentor from Counterintelligence or NSA.
ISACA REGIONAL CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIPS $200 – $6,000
APPLICATION DEADLINES: Vary based on region
14 Regional chapters across the US offer this scholarship program. You must be a member of the associated ISACA chapter. And, study in an information assurance related degree program.
ISSA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS $500-$3,500
Must pursue information assurance and security degree. A single form can cover applications to all scholarships.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Differs by school
Start as a civilian or service member. For undergraduate through doctoral students in information assurance academic disciplines. Separate programs are available for those in the military and civilians in school.
Must complete 1 year of service in the civil or military branch for every year of the scholarship. For service members, no more than 4 years of service in exchange for funding.
Graduate Cyber Security Scholarships
Must focus on national security courses including cyber security. Seeks future career in the US Government. Students with in-demand languages preferred.
US Citizens, Nationals, or permanent resident aliens eligible. Must pursue graduate level research in STEM fields. Awardees may pursue research at any US govt lab or school. 42 past fellows went on to become Nobel Laureates in STEM fields.
For students who will pursue a doctorate in a designated national security-related discipline.
Applicants may be in the last year of undergrad (and accepted into a doctoral program). Or they can be up to two years into graduate work.
Participants work on research at a Dept of Defense lab for one summer during award timeframe.
NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP FOR SERVICE (SFS) $22,500-$34,000
DEADLINES: Differ based on schools
Applicants enter through their participating school. Must study an info assurance field at bachelors – PhD levels.
Stipend timeframe requires work at a government agency. That could also be a Federally Funded Research and Development Center. Stipends are renewable. Need security clearance for employment/internship. An internship of 10 weeks is also required during stipend period.
NAVAL RESEARCH ENTERPRISE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM $5,400-$10,800

Cyber Security Scholarships for Women
SWSIS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP $5,000-$10,000
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Differs based on school
As of 2018, SWSIS has given 75 women. Their goal is to encourage studying information security.Junior or senior year undergraduate students or those pursuing a masters.
They have various scholarships at different schools. All with a Cyber Security impetus.
THE GOOGLE ANITA BORG MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP $5,000-$10,000
This is more than a scholarship. It also includes a retreat and grants membership to a community.
Must identify as a woman and be studying at a US ($10,000 award) or Canadian ($5,000 award) university. Applicants need a strong academic record. They must study in a computer science or related technical discipline. Resume, essays, references, and transcripts required.
Students get the funds toward tuition, fees and books. They are also eligible for internships with the company. At graduation, they also get aid from the center. This is toward the (ISC)² Certified Information Systems Security Professional certification. That’s critical for a career in Cyber Security.
Designed to encourage and support female undergraduate students set on careers in computing. One applicant wins per year. Eligible students must have a declared major in Comp Sci or related field.
